The Lynchburg Humane Society is looking for a full or part-time veterinarian for animal health and veterinary surgery. The position works in the fields of wellness, dentistry, accommodation and medicine. The Animal Aid Team is responsible for helping owners who want to return their pets home or give them back, answering phone calls, helping with the transfer of pets from other organizations to our facility, carrying out initial examinations and administering vaccinations. The unit is responsible for ensuring that pets have a clean and healthy environment while they are under our care, interact with the public, conduct investigations and vaccinate incoming pets. Other tasks include following and socializing with pets, walking with dogs that require additional tools, implementing an enrichment plan for dogs and cats, and learning basic behaviors for all our pets.

New technicians must complete a comprehensive training program for pharmacy technicians and meet the registration, licensing and certification requirements in accordance with the guidelines of the State Pharmacy Association. You must have at least two years of veterinary experience in Virginia and a Virginia license obtained under the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (VMA) or the VA Department of Veterinary Medicine (VAMD).


Certified and trained pharmacy technicians can, if permitted in the relevant states, extend their obligations to the implementation of vaccinations. The tasks include the collection, processing and supply of vaccines and the care of animals that need medical care.
